Portrait of Aftyn as Twin supernatural babes. This is my first color portrait that I think is actually pretty good. Doing this picture, I found the painting style that worked for me in Krita. Every time I tried to use a brush with less than 100% opacity, any regions of overlap between strokes would leave denser patches, regardless of whether I lifted the stylus. So what I wound up doing was using a loose brush to “squeeze” a bunch of pigment onto the canvas and then blend it into shape. Every part of this picture is dozens of applications deep, largely on a single layer. It’s a slow, iterative process, but eventually the colors start to take shape. Except for shadows.
