Sketch portrait of actor and singer Faye Wong, done in Procreate on iPad. Aside from the background plate, this is all a single color, going for that ball-point pen look. This is my first one of these ink shading jobs that feels like it’s starting to really get there. Having the hashing follow facial contours makes all the difference. This is one of those pieces that tells me I’m making real progress.
I first became aware of Wong in Wong Kar Wai’s Chungking Express, and then she stole my breath away in 2046. I mean, just look at this! She really knows how to play to the camera.
I also really got into a song YouTube tossed into my feed one day called Jiang Ai. It’s pretty unlike the rest of her library, though.
