Kenzo of the Love Life Drawing community hosted a session today focused on improving our line quality. So I was trying to focus on that, but my crappy, hairy line work still comes out. I expect eventually I’ll get confident enough in the shapes I’m drawing that I don’t feel compelled to check partway through each line over and over. We’ll see.
But for my purposes, this session had a more important push, because these were 5 minute sessions with each reference. So this was a speed drill at a level I have never attempted. I am particularly happy with the figure on the bottom right. It was quick; the lines are reasonably clean; the shading isn’t bad; and there’s nothing egregiously off in the pose. The upper right figure has very clean lines, but that’s a cheat, drawn on top of a much rougher version.
I had a great time and am looking forward to any future classes like it.
