If you are the regular reader of this site, you may have noticed some cosmetic changes. The most noticeable parts are the new banner and logo images in the header. To keep a consistent theme going, I have changed up most of the site colors as well. Gone is the old blue scene, in with brown and purple.
I made some smaller changes as well.
- I changed the “fiction” tag to a category so it would be easier to add to the banner menu. Illustrating the Aftyn Center story was very rewarding, and it makes me want to add in some of the other short stories I’ve written over the years
- I removed the Love Life Drawing gallery. No one was looking at it. It was a pain to maintain. And a lot of the content in there had a very unpolished look that isn’t necessarily what I want to showcase. The few presentable pieces from there have been scattered to other galleries
- I finally got a working random posts widget I can use in the sidebar (visible on category/tag pages). In case anyone else is looking, this one is part of the Blocksy extensions set
- I made the featured images larger on the front and category pages. Let’s get that art big!
I learned a bit more about the WordPress query loop system, which puts me closer to my goal of going to the base theme, but I’m not quite there yet.
I have a vacation coming up in October, so there will probably be a few weeks during which I am unable to post. Have a good Halloween!
