Charcoal portrait of Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, from the video “This is America”. This was my first attempt at a charcoal portrait. This kind of work doesn’t really allow for blending, which I tend to do a lot of. I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without my recent work in trying to capture shapes rather than lines. I was inspired to try after watching a pastel portrait by Lane Brown for the Proko YouTube channel/website.
