This is my first landscape painting, done in Procreate on the iPad. If it weren’t for the fact it’s all digital, I’d call it “mixed media”. I used a lot of different kinds of brushes making this. My usual techniques weren’t working out for the more amorphous and textured look I needed.
The reference for it is a picture I took myself, one lucky evening out walking my dog. Linne Woods is an extension of a very large forest preserve in northern Illinois. The sunset was gorgeous, and these mists rising above the prairie field just looked magic.
I don’t think I’ll do a lot of landscape shots, but I’m glad this one turned out as good as it did.
