Portrait of Aftyn Rose role-playing as a tsundere kitten. I painted this with acrylic brushes in Procreate on the iPad. I painted it after the figure drawing class to relax a bit from that push. It was fun to do, and it turned out pretty good. I went for a bit of a looser style, although it’s certainly not as simplified as Kenzo would suggest. I continue to have trouble carving out color regions in hair.
Tsundere, if you haven’t heard of it, is a common character trope in anime. A tsundere romantic interest will be cold, often abusive, probably as a mask for their insecurity. Picture a grade schooler punching the girl he secretly likes. Aftyn mapped that onto one of her favorite subjects, cat girls, to great effect. The video is a lot of fun, and features one of the strongest triggers for me in the canon, so I return to it often.
