In September of last year, I embarked on my greatest adventure ever — I got married to the most wonderful woman! We have been together for a year now, and to celebrate I painted her portrait. I used a mixture of watercolor and colored pencil marks, arranged with care and patience, to make the best expression I was able to muster at my current level of ability. I spent a month on this; much longer than my usual.
The reference is from a photo taken by one of our guests. She has a real flair for getting in on the subject and capturing special moments. We were lucky to have her at the wedding.
In the interest of maintaining a tiny scrap of privacy in this world of phishing, social media, and AI scrapers, I am not mentioning names or dates. If you know, you know.
At one year in (or 32 years in, depending on how you measure things), I am just as smitten as the day we met. Here’s to a lifetime of adventure, growth, celebration, and dedication to the Oxford comma!
