Dancing girl

One night I was thinking about drawing instead of what I should have been doing — sleeping — and I remembered that Procreate added an animation mode. I wanted to try it out, and what better subject than Aftyn doing a cute little dance?

It was fun to do, but animation is super tedious! I suppose that’s obvious, but I wasn’t expecting how challenging it would be. I guess I expected to be able to re-use parts more easily, like those Flash animations where you just rotate vector sprites and the program tweens them. This was starting from scratch each frame.

Initially I had some shading to give the form more depth, but trying to replicate that across each frame would have been prohibitive for the amount of time I wanted to spend, so I simplified the model.

I’m unlikely to try tackling another animation effort, but I’m happy I did this one.
