Touchy

An experiment in painting with a very limited color palette, inspired by Aftyn’s “Sensual touchy relax time” video, which is pretty monochromatic. Given that it was my first time trying it, I shouldn’t give myself a hard time over how hard a road this painting took to becoming reality. This was a labor. It does have a cool look, though. The bright spots do a good job of pulling your eye through the picture.

Originally I was trying to make this work as a shaded sketch. I failed at that several times, then tried to convert it to a value painting (my first one of those). The hard outline worked against that, so I needed to do a pass removing that. After that, I used Procreate’s gradient map tool to give it color.
