Back in October 2021, I produced a truly awful drawing of early screen idol Myrna Loy. Of all the failures I have posted here, that was the only one I called that from the start. I was reaching beyond my abilities. Poor value control. Poor proportions. Barely even resembling a human. Just a horrible eyesore on my gallery.
So here is attempt number two, one I think is much better, rendered with charcoal tools in Procreate. Monochrome because I did not want to invent colors for a black & white reference.
If you find yourself wondering who Myrna Loy was, I highly recommend checking out one or more of The Thin Man movies. They are delightful murder mysteries produced in a pre-code Hollywood studio system, and main characters Nick and Nora Charles burn bright even today.
