Exercise ball
On the last day of Kimodameshi 2025, the daily quest was to “Draw your favorite subject”. Readers of this site will know, I do have a favorite subject! They were literally asking for it! What else could I do?
I had been doing a pretty good job of varying up my references over the course of the month. If you’ve been checking out the Kimo posts, you’ll see all kinds of subjects and very little Aftyn. I was being good! Just yesterday, I decided I had earned a treat and used some of her photos for full-body references. I thought those turned out pretty well; at some point I’ll polish them up and turn them into their own post. Then today, well, I had to do it even better.
I’m very much enjoying my growing confidence with Artstudio Pro’s pencil tool. I feel like my linework is improving. I feel free to make both tentative searching lines and bold, decisive ones. My hatching has never been better. With a little more practice, I’ll be in a pretty comfortable place.
Comfort, though, is not the name of this game. I will continue to push into new territories and new challenges.
