Kimodameshi 2025, week 3

Kimodameshi 2025 enters its third week. I spent less time this week on quick sketches and more on making things presentable. Is that the right balance to strike? Maybe not.

The portrait above is for one of the daily challenges, to do a master study. I haven’t done a lot of those, and am not sure what goals I should pursue doing it. I chose a luminous portrait by Stephen Bauman I scratched this out in about 90 minutes last night. It looks kind of melted next to the original. What I learned is that Bauman is a master for a reason, and I have a long way to go.
