The Love Life Drawing study group hands month rolls on. This week we add “simplified” finger and thumb shapes to the palm box diagram. In last week’s exercise post, I included the original references, and I really shouldn’t have done that. Those are copyright images, and I don’t have permission to share them. So this week I decided to make shaded versions of the references so it would be easier for you to visualize what the diagrams are trying to represent. But I drew the diagram first and used it to make the shaded hand drawings. In other words, I did the thing. I made a simplified representation and then enrobed it with flesh and shadows.
How do they look? Eh… I think the shapes are pretty credible, but the shading is not doing its job well enough. I’m not yet clear why that aspect is falling short, though. Need more practice.
