Week four of the focus on arm anatomy concludes with gesture drawings that concentrate on using musculature to guide shadow shapes and the curves in the form. I did two passes on each of these forms. The orange set was my starting set, just looking at the references, and the blues are from looking more closely at Kenzo’s versions. They’re pretty similar. I’m not sold by that last lady’s arms. I don’t feel like either version really sells the ropy nature of what was going on with her arms.
However, as figure drawings, I think each is pretty good. I believe I have really improved at doing a reasonably quick figure study over the last year and half. Below is an attempt to do 20 figure studies at two minutes each (using a timer).
I also updated my bones and musculature diagram with cleaned up connection points based on guidance from Kenzo. This felt like a worthwhile exercise.
