Paper and digital renditions of my left hand for an exercise from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. This was a product of my fight with the viewfinder tool. I just could not keep that thing and my own head steady, and see well enough out of my one lousy, squinted eye to get it to hang together. But I did eventually start feeling the point of the exercise, which was to “trace” the projected 2d image of a 3d object onto the card.
For the paper version, I started shading using charcoal and then panicked when I saw how much darker those marks were than the rest of the piece, so I switched to ordinary pencil for the rest.
